Terry has called on regional businesses to invest in their key people so they are ready to take advantage of the opportunities ahead.
Terry has become an Ambassador for the Chartered Institute of Directors to champion the qualification which he said elevated companies to another level.
A passionate advocate of investing in people at all levels he said that it demonstrated the determination of a business to invest in their people and themselves and reinforced the belief that they were fit for purpose as an organisation. In cash strapped times when companies were having to watch their bottom line he understood businesses were tempted to cut training and development of people. He warned that it was a false economy and urged companies to back those directors who wanted to work for Chartered status and support their efforts.
Terry wants to use his experience in industry to galvanise support and motivate others who like himself is committed to making a difference for today and tomorrow. He said "Yorkshire Business needs talented strong leaders and the IOD's Chartered status can help them achieve their professional ambitions"
Peter Webster, chairman of the Yorkshire Chartered Directors said Mr Hodgkinson's appointment was a "great oppoutunity to raise the profile of Chartered Director status for businesses"
